ss PASS OF BALLATER (796gt) : Built 1928 as bulk petrol carrier by Blytheswood Shipbuilding Co., Glasgow (with triple expansion steam engine by Aitcheson, Blair Ltd.). Believed named PASS OF BALLATER and built for Bulk Oil Steamship Co., London, from the outset. 1934 – Sold (possibly chartered) to “Soflumar” (Societie de Armement Fluvial et Maritime), La Havre, and renamed RAFFINAGE; ("Soflumar" were essentially wine carriers). She was converted from coal to oil firing in March 1935 1938 – Returned (?) to Bulk Oil Steamship Co., London, and renamed PASS OF BALLATER (managed by J.W. Cook) 1959 – Sold to Jackson Shipping Co., Nassau and renamed JACKSON PRINCESS. She operated in the Canadian Lakes in the early 60s, carrying vegetable oil. 1963 – Acquired by Holyrood Shipping Ltd., Nassau, and renamed HOLYROOD PRINCESS. Ownership transferred to Holyrood Shipping, Newfoundland in 1971 with no change of name. She was broken up at Vigo, Spain in July 1971.
