Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Sampler made in 1808 by Jane Morgans. The ground is cream tabby weave linen which has turned edges on three sides but the top edge is a selvedge. The embroidery depicts an oval frame of flowers with a ribbon at the top and bottom. The colours used were once vibrant and can be seen on the reverse of the sampler: greens, pink, yellow, and blue, purple peach and brown. The stitches used are mostly satin-stitch with cross-stitch for the lettering and a form of chain-stitch for the border outline.
