Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Obverse. The King enthroned in a style bearing many of the features of his last seal. The monarch, seated and crowned, wears an ermine cloak and fur tippet; in his right hand a sceptre, in his left, an orb, both poorly engraved (ot at least seemingly so on this impression), his feet rest upon a cushion. The upper part of the throne, beneath the canopy, is shell-shaped, whilst cherubs uphold a small shield of arms: quarterly, FRANCE (Modern) and ENGLAND; 2. SCOTLAND; 3. IRELAND. To either side of the monarch, an eagle at rest, above which human torsos are affixed to the pillars of the throne. In field, dext. a lion sejant reguardant, crowned and holding on a lance a flag charged with the cross of St George; sin. a unicorn sejant reguardant, gorged with a coronet, similarly holding a flag charged with the cross of St Andrew. Over the canopy, is the date: 1640. Outer border beaded.
