Long runner like mat, 1930s. Prodded type, made up from scraps of silk and lisle stockings in various shades of beige, pink, grey and rust. Re-inforced at back by modern webbing with later handwritten label detailing history of its making by members of Quakers club for miner's wives. Label on back reads: 'This rug was made from silk and rayon stockings at Senghennydd, S. Glam. In 1930s women Quakers of Cardiff formed a club for miners' wives who made and gave this rug to Amy F. Lewis.'
