Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
This lamp is amde from a coarse clay and has not been oxidised to the same degree throughout the fabric as seen in the break in the nozzle. Nozzle end is missing as is the handle. The oil filling hole is damaged and unable to say its original size. The nozzle is open along all of its length except where it meets the shoulder of the lamp which is covered. You can see the nozzle was attached to the body and hole was made into the chamber from the nozzle. There is some evidence of burning around the broken end of the nozzle. The base is flat and round. There appears to be soil residue inside the lamp.
