Apron

Small white cotton tabby apron with printed design of vertical Union Jack design in the middle. Light blue bias tape binding along outside edge; length of red bias tape stitched c. 5cm in from outer edge. Upper edge lightly pleated and bound into a 3cm wide waistband. Waistband consists of two halves, joined together with a vertical seam at the centre. 46.5cm long ties stitched to either edge of waistband. The printed Union Jack is appliquéd to the front by being machine stitched along the edges. The white ground fabric of the apron itself was then trimmed away, leaving only a short hem, which is turned under along top, bottom and proper left side and secured with hand-sewn slip stitches, while the remaining edge is secured with herringbone stitches.
