Freeing the Birds - Taking Risks

Ronald, Pennell (Engraver)

Deep bowl, glass; wheel engraved with a scene of three men standing on the back of a large crocodile and releasing birds from their hands.

Ronald Pennell is one of Britain's foremost glass artists, internationally renowned for his wheel-engraved narrative scenes. The world he conjures up mixes an irreverent sense of humour with sometimes disconcerting messages. In this work, three men standing on the back of a large crocodile release birds from their hands.
