Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
The sherd from the lower part of the bowl is burnt. The beads bordering the decoration are large, and the upper zone is filled with a straight wreath of large shell like leaves. The small portion from the lower zone of decoration has a plain semicircle placed as an arch, containing a rosette, and supported on a four petalled flower. The upper zone leaves are used as a middle wreath on Knorr 1952, Taf. 33 (Modestus), and on Taf. 46 and 64, M (assigned to the style of Melus). Compare also the leaves on a piece from Colchester and the wreath illustrated by Hermet. The four petalled flower in the lower zone is noted by Knorr as a detail on vessels stamped OF.CRESTIO. Semicircles used as arches occur in the upper zones of early sherds.
