Tureen, soup, cover, and stand
T. & J. Bevington & Co., Swansea China Works (1817 - 1826)
Soup tureen, cover and stand, soft-paste porcelain; standing on a round pedestal base, rounded sides to shoulder, concave curve to lip; curved scallop shell handles; conical cover with a flat beaded moulded top and pineapple finial; stand on a flared foot rim curving into cushion moulded sides with a curved everted lip; each side of the tureen, the cover and stand, transfer printed with the 'Castle gatehouse' pattern, - an underglaze blue transfer print of a castled gate house, with figures and cows on the road, next to a river crossed by a bridge, with tall trees on the opposite bank, bordered by a stylised flower and pattern border; gilt finial, lip, handles, shoulder rim and foot rim.
