Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Rugby cap made from brown velvet (eight sections joined together). Peak of black velvet (including under-side). Peak does not appear to be stiffened with card interlining; lined with blue silk satin (six sections joined together). Metal braid along lower edge of cap and encapsulating edge of peak. Metal thread embroidery at centre front: angel motif over shield-shape. Narrow metal braid stitched over seams in velvet joining the eight sections. Domed wooden shape at top of crown with metal purl tassle suspended from Z-twist metal thread. Upper part of tassle consists of metal purl wrapped around a core of yellow cotton thread (S-twist). Lower edge stiffened with loosely woven undyed cellulosic fabric which has been coated with a stiffening agent.
