Roman copper alloy fitting
The object comprises a flat iron shaft, at right angles to the end of which is a stout bronze shaft of tapering rectangular cross section terminating in a large flanged knob. There are traces of wood on the iron. The object perhaps formed part of a piece of iron and wood furniture.
