Oval, with sloping sides, rim perforated with three parallel rows of small continuous holes of lozenge shape. Dark brown tortoiseshell japan to flat surface of interior. Decorated with three playing cards to centre, diamonds, spades and clubs, painted in white, red and black. Simple band of faded scroll ornament in silver to edge. Both surfaces of the sides and the underside of the base are japanned black. Varnished and crazed.
