Mercury arc rectifier by E.C.C., 1922 no.1482, AC input 400volt, 3 phase 50 cycles, DC output 440 volt, 110 amp, 48.5kw, in sheet steel ventilated cubicle approx. 2.0m high x 0.4m x 0.3m, weight approx. 5cwt, from the ground floor of the lower station. Used on the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway, dating from the conversion from water power to electric power in 1922.
