Child's blue silk princess line dress, 1880s. Worn by Edith Jordan from the Rhondda.
Blue tabby woven silk with short puffed sleeves, decorated with a wide bias-cut swag across the front of the skirt which is sewn to the dress in five points along the top edge and in three points along the bottom edge. The left side of the swag is gathered into horizontal pleats. Cream tulle trim on bodice. The blue satin fabric used as accentuating trim and as a cover for decorative domed buttons. Double frill of narrow pleats on hem of skirt. Cenre-back opening extends beyond the waist. Fastened with 14 metal (copper alloy) hooks and stitched loops.
