Medieval copper alloy strap end
The strap-end is of openwork, double-sheet construction. At the attachment edge is a rectangular protrusion before the sub-rectangular body of the strap-end containing a central rectangular aperture (7.3mm x 5.8mm). At the base is a trifoliate terminal. The plates were secured to each other and through the strap by two iron rivets, which remain in-situ. The remains of the leather strap are discernible between the sheet plates. The surface of the plates are brown to dark green but have been recently coated.
