Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
These are moderately preserved remains from the inhumation burial of an older middle adult (25-45+) who was probably female. While her head is moderately well preserved, very little remains of the rest of the skeleton except small fragments from across the arms, right leg and ribs.
The burial is from Phase D: 436-772 AD
They were buried in an extended supine position in a cist grave oriented West-East
Her teeth showed evidence of calculus, caries, abscesses and tooth loss during her life suggesting poor oral hygiene and possibly a sugary high-carbohydrate diet. She also showed signs of Degenerative Joint Disease which is caused by wear and tear on the joints and is more common in older people.
This burial is directly beneath SK85 which is itself truncated by SK90.
