Genwen Colliery, photograph
Genwen Colliery disaster, 5 March 1907. The subsequent enquiry found that the explosion was caused by a faulty safety lamp. Four men were killed in the explosion and two others during the rescue attempts. The image shows the scene on the colliery surface during the rescue attempts.
