The tower of the church, as completed in 1512 but destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666; a clock-face in the base, and surmounted by five lanterns - supported by arches or bows (hence the church's name). A light was ordered by the Common Council to be kept at night in this tower to guide those approaching the city.
