Medieval / Post-Medieval copper alloy candlestick

The candlestick is of socketed type and was originally attached to a missing base by a plug at the end of the shaft. The candlestick is incomplete, missing an area of the bottom portion. The socket has a diameter of 28.5mm (24.8mm internal), with straight sides and has a depth of 48mm. The exterior of the socket is concave either side of a central raised rib. The interior of the candlestick is hollow. At the base of the socket is a low collar possibly suggesting that the socket was soldered to the shaft. The shaft of the candlestick has near-straight sides (with a diameter of 14.8mm). The shaft has three ribs (of 23.3mm, 25.7mm and 24.3mm diameter), the lowest of which would have flanked the base. The base plug has a diameter of 13mm. The shaft is damaged and exposes a lead core. The surface is mostly well preserved with a dark green patina.
