Mug, of cylindrical form, earthenware, standing on a rounded foot rim with raised moulding of ancanthus leaves and anthemions, straight six panelled sides, ending with a repeat of the raised moulding below the lip rim; loop handle with prominent thumb spur, gadrooned either side of central collar, with lobed spreading terminals; transfer printed, in black, with vignette designs, 'Chinese Views'; a scene, with two figures in front of a tiered building and another with three figures in a boat on an expanse of water, the lip rim with a border of hearts and loops, the handle with a central strip of flowers and foliage, the interior sides with a shell amongst scrolling foliage and flowers and two large flowers amongst similar scrolling foliage.
