On a seal which has been compared to a 'gorgeous reredos' , St. Peter seated in a canopied niche, wearing the tiara; to either side, dext. St.Paul with sword and book, sin. St.Andrew with his cross and book; in each of two outer niches stands an archbishop. Above in a smaller niche, the Blessed Trinity; to either side an archbishop (three-quarters length). The four canonised archbishops are, presumably, SS Wilfrid, Oswald, John and William of York. In base beneath an ogival arch, the archbishop kneels in prayer; to either side, a shield : dext. SEE OF YORK (Modern; as E75); sin . three indistinct objects, presumably garbs within a border engrailed, KEMP. Cabled border. A sprig between some words of the legend.
