Photograph of the transmitting apparatus and Morse Inker used for the Lavernock-Break Down demonstration of wireless telegraphy for the first time across water in May 1897, being inspected by three Post Office Officials associated with the occasion. Typed caption on reverse identifies the men as being, from left to right, Mr G.N. Partridge, Superintending Engineer, Mr H.C. Price, Engineer, and Mr S.E. Hailes, Lineman. Photographers stamp on reverse.
