Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Although this canal-scape is set in the Netherlands and painted by a Dutch artist, the style is distinctly French. The suggestive dashes of colour, glassy reflections and windswept sky show the influence of artists such as Camille Corot, Eugéne Boudin and the Impressionists. Mastenbroek was a late follower of the Hague School which was inspired by the open-air effects developed in French art.
