Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
This brooch is a typical example of the Chester type with the trumpet formed by the junction of the head of the bow, almost triangular in cross-section, with lobed mouldings to either side. The spring is supported by a heavy cast lug at the rear of the head, which accommodates the axial bar and was notched beneath to hold the internal chord; there is no head-stop. The waist decoration is half-round only and plain save for the prominent lobed button. There is a moulded foot. The pin is missing.
