Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
These are remains from the Inhumation Burial of a Young Adult (17-25 years) who was Female. The remains are moderately preserved with over 75% remaining.
They were buried in an extended supine position in a simple grave oriented Southwest-Northeast.
The burial is from Phase E: 606-873 AD, on the South West edge of the main burial mound. Her left femur was radiocarbon dated to 663-873 AD. The Skeleton Catalogue incorrectly lists this Skeleton as from Phase C, which was a century earlier.
Her teeth had Calculus and Caries. Her bones showed evidence of Osteochondritis Dissecans on the proximal articular surface of her first left metatersal. These are most commonly caused by direct trauma. Her vertebra had Degenerative Joint Disease.
