Silver crown awarded for composing a 'pryddest' at the Holywell Crowned Eisteddfod of 1869. This was the first time a crown was awarded for this literary competition. It was won by Richard Mawddwy Jones of Dolwyddelan. The competition for the pryddest (a long poem in free metre), was first introduced to the National Eisteddfod in 1867. A medal rather than a crown was awarded that year.
