Museum Workshop

Minibeasts

🔍 Discover and Explore

Did you know that we have beehives on the Museum roof? Or that some of our Museum Scientists study insects? Find out how we classify minibeasts, explore their life cycles, and see how they help us and what we can do to help them.

✏️ Take Part

Acting as scientists and using real insect specimens from our collections, learners will examine minibeasts close-up with magnifying glasses, before working in teams to sort them into groups. They will explore the life cycle of a silkworm using preserved examples and work together to construct insect life cycles. Finally they will reinforce their learning by creating insect art.
