A school trip to National Waterfront Museum
Exploring the National Waterfront Museum will bring to life the industrial innovations Wales has achieved over the last 300 years. You will see huge coal wagons, a replica of Trevithick’s Steam Locomotive, a monoplane built by Charles Horace Watkins, objects made by Hoover, Corgi Toys and Spectrum computers, and much, much more. You can also use interactives to explore maps and records to help you discover more about Wales’s social history.
There is a wide range of facilitator led workshops:
A Victorian Christmas | Swansea 1851 | Join Mrs. Bird as she prepares her household for a traditional Welsh Victorian Christmas.
Welsh Pirates | Go back in time and hear tales about the trade, booty and the battles of Wales’ most successful buccaneer - Barti Ddu.
Words and Wings with Thomas Docherty | Hear the exciting story of the first man to design and build an aeroplane in Wales.
Dreams of the future | Exploring the science and art of flight at the turn of the 20th century.
Thermal Kinetic Reactions | Join us for a STEM filled workshop to discover the history and science of coal mine explosions.
School visits are available Monday – Friday, during opening hours.
