Introduction: a rare silver-bearing mineral found with other silver sulfosalts in hydrothermal veins.
Occurrence in Wales: xanthoconite has recently been identified as rare microcrystals at Dolyhir Quarry in the Welsh borderland (D.I. Green, unpublished data). A full description of the mineralogy of this quarry is in preparation.
