Event:Walking Tour: Traces of the Slate Industry, Parc Padarn
Follow the story of slate with National Slate Museum staff around Parc Padarn. Hear about the history of the quarrymen on the rock and in the 'gwaliau', and understand more about Vivian quarry, inclines and the 'Blondin'.
Tour route:
- We are offering Welsh and English tours separately. Please ensure you book the tour in the language you require.
- Age suitability: 8+
- The tour will last for approximately 60 minutes.
- We will start in the Gilfach Ddu car park at the slate Gilfach Ddu sign, and finish the journey at Dinorwig Quarry Hospital.
- This walk is unsuitable for people with access needs due to the nature of the landscape and steep, narrow paths. You will need sturdy shoes. If you are not wearing suitable shoes, you will not be able to join us.
- If poor weather is forecast, a decision to postpone or cancel the tour will be shared the afternoon before.
- You are welcome to bring your dog on a leash.
With a minimum ticket price of £1, we are encouraging you to pay what you can. Booking is essential. Groups of 6 or more are asked to make enquiries in advance via email to chloe.ward@museumwales.ac.uk.
