This fun and friendly course is suitable for complete beginners. It covers all aspects of beekeeping and is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to learn more about these incredible creatures. Participants will gain a solid understanding of how to keep bees enjoyably and successfully.

**Details:** 

- Location: National Waterfront Museum, Swansea 

- Taught by a highly experienced and friendly tutor: Alyson Williams, the museum's resident beekeeper, who has been keeping bees for over 10 years and has her own small apiary on the outskirts of Gower. 

- An informal and friendly atmosphere.

- Personal attention, with a maximum of 12 participants in the course. 

- Bee suits and gloves will be provided; sturdy outdoor boots or wellingtons are recommended. 

- Age requirement: 16+ (participants aged 16-18 must be accompanied by a participating adult). 

- The course is fully accessible.

 - Language: This course will be held in the first language of the facilitator - which is English.

- Light refreshments will be provided. 

 **Course Structure:** - The course consists of a blend of focused classroom sessions and practical hands-on work with the bees.

**Morning Session:** 

The day will begin with the basic theory of beekeeping, including the bees’ lifecycle, apiary rules, hive setup, equipment maintenance, and an exploration of the fascinating world of bees and pollination. 

**Afternoon Session:** 

After lunch, participants will experience the sights and sounds of beekeeping in our balcony apiary for a more hands-on and practical session. This will involve donning bee suits, meeting the bees, and opening the hives to identify different types of bees and their various life stages. 

*Please note that lunch is not included in your ticket price. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch or enjoy our on-site facilities.*
