Event:Summer of fun: Powered by Community

Big Pit National Coal Museum
Finished

Come join us at Big Pit National Coal Museum for our ‘Powered by Community ‘ walk-in workshop, celebrating the diverstity of the communities within the  Welsh coal mines. From 11am- 3pm on Saturday September the 10th, and anybody can drop in on the day.

This project will seek to encourage young people aged 10-15 to explore the history of diversity within the mining communities and about leading figures that helped shaped the history of coal mining today.

Firstly, participants will be taken on a tour of the museum’s banners currently on display, following which they will be invited to design and create their own banners looking at how this history might have impacted their lives. All materials and instruction will be provided.

The ‘Powered by Community ‘ workshop has been devised by artist Abigail Fraser for the 9to90 outreach program of GS Artists, Swansea, in collaboration with Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales & the Welsh Government Summer of Fun.
