Join us for a series of creative workshops inspired by our Sea Horizon exhibition.  Delve deeper into the photographs by Garry Fabian Miller of the Severn Estuary and coastline of Wales through poetry and writing. Each workshop is led by an academic specialist from the Image Works research group at Cardiff University.

Workshop 2: 24 August 2023, 12-2pm

Lead: Dr. Elen Ifan, Lecturer, School of Welsh, Cardiff University

Title: Y Ffin a’i Ryddid: Cyfyngiadau Creadigol’; The Freedom of Boundaries: Exploring Creative Constraints

Format: Writing Workshop

Duration: 2 hours

Description: How can constraints give us as writers more freedom to experiment? Using The Sea Horizon by Garry Fabian Miller as inspiration – photographs that are identical in composition but so different in content – this workshop will explore the creative potential that formal boundaries offer. Participants will be invited to play with the expressive freedom that goes hand in hand with putting constraints on creative practice. This is a Welsh-language workshop.
