Event:Wondrous Oceans

National Museum Cardiff

It’s time to dive deep into the depths of the ocean on this immersive journey with circus theatre company Circo Rum Ba Ba and their environmental show ‘The Whale – Plastic Ocean’!

Bold explorers squeeze into the belly of an enormous inflatable Sperm Whale where they find themselves in the depths of the bubbling, kelp-swirling ocean. With the use of exquisite puppets, comedy and music, you can explore the tale of sea creatures and their battle to survive in an ocean full of rubbish and leave feeling empowered that everyone can make a difference.

Then, be guided back up to the shore to explore the wonders the natural world has in store in a fun and informative instillation, bringing together the treasures of the museum’s archive celebrating the wonder of ocean life – and what we can do to preserve its future.

  • An experience in two parts! Part 1: A 30-minute show in the belly of The Whale / Part 2: Time to explore our exhibition space and explore marine life, specially curated by our marine biologists!
  • There are 6 sessions per day – each session will invite you into the belly of the Whale and into our exhibition space.
  • Suitable for children aged 3-10 and their families.
  • Price: £12.50 per head (for adults and children). All children must be accompanied by a paying adult.
  • X1 wheelchair allocation per session – this can be booked online.
  • Performances interpreted in British Sign Language (BSL) on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July at 10.15am and 10.45am.
  • Limited tickets available. Tickets are non-refundable.  This event will be delivered and guided in Circo Rum Ba Ba’s first language, which is English.

From the sandy shores to the ocean depths - book now to join us on an underwater adventure you’ll never forget!
