Event:Museum Sleepover: Under Helios

This summer, you're invited to the ultimate sleepover - discover what goes on after dark on an unforgettable night at the Museum.

Here's the plan...

  • Roll out your sleeping bag underneath the wonder of our summer display Helios.
  • Or, get the VIP treatment and nestle to sleep in our Natural History and Evolution of Wales galleries. Hurry! Spaces are limited.
  • Take a torch-lit tour to explore Wales as it was 200 million years ago when dinosaurs ruled the land.
  • Say hello to some prehistoric pals in a Dino show that the whole family will love.
  • Get creative in our craft workshops inspired by the Sun!
  • Wind down with a film at our historic Reardon Smith theatre
  • Wake up for breakfast before gaining exclusive, early access to the Museum galleries before heading back to real life in the 21st century

Limited tickets are available. This event is perfect for children aged six to twelve.  All children must be accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets are non-refundable.

You are welcome to bring your own sleeping mats and airbeds on the night, but please consult our FAQs for restrictions

Free Entry

Amgueddfa Cymru belongs to everyone, and admission to the Museum is free thanks to funding from the Welsh Government. 

Booking a free day ticket in advance will ensure you receive key information and updates before your visit, helping you to make the most of your experience. 

Admission is free, however a charge may apply for some exhibitions, events and activities.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. For safety reasons, we reserve the right to conduct bag searches when entering the Museum​.

 Accessibility

If you prefer to visit when we’re less crowded, there are usually fewer people on our site from 3pm each day.

Access Guide

 Parking

A visitor car park is situated behind the Museum, off Museum Avenue. Parking costs £6.50 and can be paid at the parking machines in the car park. 

Parking is free to blue badge holders. Disabled parking is also available at the front of the Museum, on Gorsedd Gardens Road.

 Eat, Drink, Shopping

  • The Museum café in the Main Hall is open every day 10am-4pm offering a range of drinks and snacks.

 Location

 Multifaith Room

Reserve time in National Museum Cardiff's multifaith room.

This is a clean and quiet area for reflection, contemplation, and worship.

Please be aware that this space may be shared with other members of the public and must be kept clean.

Privacy screens are available if required.
