Event:Museum Lates: Solar Eclipse

National Museum Cardiff

Join us to celebrate the solar eclipse and stay late to experience Helios after dark!

We’re inviting you to experience Luke Jerram’s 7-metre-wide sun sculpture and wander through the galleries to enjoy world-class art and natural history, before heading out to view the solar eclipse around 7pm.

Once the sun has set, you’re invited to return to the museum to experience Helios after dark. . Whether you’re heading out for post-work drinks, or enjoying a day out with friends and family, our café bar will be serving a range of drinks all evening, so you can relax and soak up the atmosphere under the sun.
Tickets are free, but must be booked in advance as capacity is limited. If you want to stay for the whole day, you will need to book both a daytime and an evening ticket. Please note that the museum will be closed between 5pm and 6pm, whilst we prepare for the evening.

The solar eclipse will start in the UK at 6.17pm and end at 8.07pm. The maximum eclipse will be at 7.13pm. The sun won’t be visible from the front of the museum so, if you want to stay nearby, we’d recommend viewing it from Alexandra Gardens, just next to the museum.
