HINE, Margaret
Hine often appears in studio pottery literature, most often in relation to a movement dubbed by Bernard Leach as the ‘Picasssettes’ - a group of potters working in tin-glaze in the 1950s that were stylistically influenced by Picasso’s ceramics. She trained at the Derby College of Art, Central School of Art in London and at London University. From 1949-54 she had a studio in Bayswater, London with William Newland and Nicholas Vergette and in 1954 moved to a new studio in Prestwood, Buckinghamshire.
