Full length bridesmaid's dress. Worn by Mary Harber at the wedding of Basil and Milliss Winchester, 18 November 1948. Cream rayon fabric with overall printed design of large dark red flowers (poppies?) (grey, brown-red, purple, yellow, pink, green). Sweetheart neckline trimmed with pleated self fabric and small bows on either side (near sleeves). Short sleeves with pleats on upper arm. Self fabric piping at waist line and also on front and back of sleeves. Fifteen covered-button and loop fastening along waist opening (along proper left side seam). Full skirt, ankle length. Extra trimming around hip line of swathe of self fabric, with pleated trimming at lower edge, gathered at rear into large bow (stitched to back above waistline). Part of upper back of skirt and bow lined with plain white cotton (?). Cotton (?) bias-cut tape finishing off part of lower hem.
