S.S. MINA L. CAMBANIS (5227gt). Built 1919 by Wm. Pickersgill & Sons Ltd., Sunderland, as WAR SMILEX for The Shipping Controller, but launched 1920 as ss SOMERTON for Atlantic Shipping & Trading Co. Ltd., (managed by Tatem Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., Cardiff). Ownership was transferred to W.J.Tatem in 1922. 1935 Sold to L.Cambanis, Andros, and renamed MINA L.CAMBANIS. 1954 Sold to Maritsa Nav. Ltda., Costa Rica, and renamed AIS NIKOLAS. She arrived at Rotterdam in November 1958 with a cargo of timber and was laid up after grounding and developing leaks. 1959 Sold to Frank Rijsdijk Ind. Ond., and broken up at Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Holland.
