This collapsable cot with canvas base was used by the Wilcox family, originally of Marcross in the vale of Glamorgan who by 1900 had moved to a 6-room terraced house in Clyde Street, Spoltt, Cardiff. The family had 6 children who all probably used the cot at one time. The father, John Pugh Wilcox, a sailor, died oversees in Georgia, USA and only a year and a half later, sadness struck the family again when the baby daughter, Kathleen, died.
