Chestnut urn, tin-plate, oval form with narrow stem and slim foot, oval cone-shaped bowl with to either side twin lion-mask and ring handles in cast lead and brass, oval concave cover rising up at the centre to a high conical point with an acorn finial in lathe-turned brass; the exterior covered with a black japan, decorated in red and silver to which the varnish has given a golden tinge, with to either side of the bowl large sprays of conventional flowers with scattered butterflies, smaller floral sprays and sprigs with further scattered butterflies around the cover and foot, the handles and finial gilded.
