Sir Thomas Aubrey (1708-1786)

BRITISH SCHOOL, 18th century / YSGOL BRYDEINIG, 18fed ganrif

Sir Thomas Aubrey (1708-1786) was the fifth baronet of Llantrithyd and Boarstall. This portrait probably dates from around 1760 and has been attributed to Giuseppe Marchi. Aubrey may have been one of the first Welsh patrons of Marchi, who visited Pencerrig in 1768, and was probably working in Swansea around 1770-72.
