unknown (artist)

Starboard view of the H.M.H.S. ST DAVID, in service as a First World War hospital ship converted from a G.W.R. ferry built 1906, by John Brown & Co., Clydebank for the new Fishguard to Rosslare ferry service. Stuck onto card mount. Unsigned and undated.

Ochr dde'r H.M.H.S. ST DAVID, wrth ei gwaith fel llong ysbyty yn y Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf. Adeiladwyd y llong ym 1906 gan John Brown & Co., Clydebank, ar gyfer gwasanaeth fferi newydd Abergwaun i Rosslare cyn cael ei throi'n llong ysbyty. Heb ddyddiad na llofnod.

Cafodd yr S.S. ST DAVID, llong ager â thri thyrbin ei hadeiladu ym 1906 gan John Brown & Co. Ltd., Clydesbank ar gyfer cwmni rheilffordd Great Western. Roedd yn un o bedair llong a adeiladwyd rhwng 1906 a 1908 ar gyfer gwasanaeth newydd GWR o Abergwaun i Rosslare. Cafodd y pedair eu defnyddio fel llongau ysbyty yn ystod y Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf, gan gludo milwyr clwyfedig yn ôl o Ffrainc. Adeiladwyd llong arall yn lle'r St David ym 1932, a chafodd ei hailenwi yn Rosslare. Ni pharodd yn hir iawn wedyn, a chafodd ei datgymalu maes o law yng Nghasnewydd ym 1933.
