Ovoid vase, black Basalt, standing on a collared pedestal foot, the rim edged with ovals and beads in white and red/brown enamels, the stem circled with oak leaves and acorns, the body painted on the front with a caduceus rising from scrolls and acanthus, anthemion and vines, the back with similar, simpler decoration below a sunflower, the lip with a band of beads, similar to the foot, wing-shaped handles rising to a moulded boss with a female head on each side; bell-shaped cover painted with stiff leaves pendant from a moulded rib, and terminating in a ball finial above a band of oak leaves.
