I had struggled to accept that I was gay and it was only through meeting LGBTQ+ colleagues that I felt able to come out; I wanted other people to also feel supported. Calon was founded in 2016 during LGBT History Month and the network has worked diligently to increase the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community, raise awareness of the difficulties that LGBTQ+ people face, and educate the organisation in relation to LGBTQ+ inclusivity”.
