Circular dish, Britannia-standard silver, hammer-raised; chased in high relief with a rich variety of leaf forms.
Yusuke Yamamoto used hammering and chasing techniques to create a variety of leaf forms on this larger circular dish. He often makes his own tools to be able to create the textures, movement and patterns he envisions.
Yamamoto was born in Kanagawa, Japan, and trained at Musashino Art University, Tokyo. He now lives in and works on the Llŷn peninsula, Wales.
Dappled Garden Dish is an important piece as it embodies his earliest experience of feeling at home in north-west Wales. The detail captures the memory of fallen autumn leaves in the garden of his first Welsh home, a cottage surrounded by forest.
