Rugby cap of black velvet; velvet is constructed of 8 sections; each seam joining the sections is covered with a narrow metal thread braid; same narrow braid is stitched horizontally around lower edge of cap (c. 1.3cm above edge); cap is lined with cream ribbed silk fabric, made of one circular section at crown and two sections joined with diagonal seams along the sides; circular black velvet badge embroidered with NFC in metal wire and purl is stitch-applied to centre front panel of cap; this cap does not have any evidence of having had a peak; domed button (wooden ? core covered in basket-woven metal threads [8 threads used together]) at centre of crown, from which a metal purl tassle is suspended by S-twist metal thread.
