Basket, fruit

Fruit basket, soft-paste porcelain, oval shape, standing on a straight-sided foot-rim, the foot-rim moulded with a raised ropework-like pattern, rounded curving sides, the sides pieced with diamond-shaped perforations to create a lattice-work effect, the intersections of the lattices moulded with flower heads, shaped rim, to either end of the basket two twisted loop handles moulded with flower heads at their terminals; painted in polychrome enamels with to the interior bottom of the basket a spray of currants and leaves and several scattered insects, the foot-rim painted yellow, the moulded flower heads to the exterior sides painted yellow and black, a chocolate edge to the rim, the handles painted green, the moulded flower heads to the terminals of the handles painted in polychrome enamels. The handles broken and repaired, the green enamel to the handles has mostly worn off.
