Grease horn
A section of horn with the point removed and a piece of wood plugging the hole; approx 16 mm from the wide end of the horn is a slot extending half way around; inserted into the slot is an oval piece of wood with one hole falling just inside the horn and another on its edge outside the horn; a wooden peg fits through the first hole to keep the piece of wood/lid in place; a length of plant fibre string is tied off through the second hole, and comes from a hole in the rim of the sand horn (F72.308.3); the horn is partly filled with thick grease; there is a hole at the narrow end of the horn which may have been used to peg the plug in position
