Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales
Incomplete wooden sword with a leaf shaped blade. There is a small original notch in the side of the blade near the hilt, opposite a small perforation about 2mm in diameter, which when found contained a thin bark covered twig (possibly hazel) 17mm long and the same diameter as the hole. The surface of the blade is well finished, with little or no trace of tool facets, but the handle and pommel are faceted and slightly rougher.
Site Name: The Breidden Hillfort, Criggion
Notes: Found in several fragments within the upper secondary silting of a water cistern (Buckbenn Pond) within the hillfort, between depths of 150-170cm.
